Strep throat is an infection that affects the throat and it is mainly caused by bacteria referred to as Streptococcus. Many people confuse this condition with sore throat due to the throat inflammation symptom of both conditions, but they are different in real sense. This condition is vulnerable in adults, but it affects children and teenagers in most cases. The common symptoms of strep throat include pain in the stomach, inflammation of tonsils and high fever among others. Strep throat can be severe if not treated at the right time. Looking inside the throat can offer important clues on what is causing you so much pain. Strep is always known to produce white patches in the throat and mainly on the tonsils. Strep throat can also cause the lymph nodes in the neck to swell and also become tender. A rash is the less common symptom of strep throat. However, depending on how serious the condition is, you may experience rashes on the neck and chest and they may even spread to other parts of the body.

Despite the body rashes, you may also experience a condition referred to as Scarlet fever. This is a condition whereby rashes develop on the lower parts of the abdomen and can go all the way to the trunk. These rashes manifest red bumps sandpaper-like rash that may become severe if not properly cared for. Hence, you should treat the symptoms immediately once noticed.

Strep throat can be passed from one person to another mainly when the infected person breathes; coughs or sneezes as tiny droplets are spread into the air.  Hence, if a healthy person breathes this infected air, he will also get the infection. It will take 2 to 5 days for one to start showing the symptoms. When diagnosing the condition, the doctor will contact a physical exam and also ask about the symptoms or perform a throat culture test.

Doctors usually use antibiotics to treat strep throat.  They in most cases prescribe antibiotics for 10 days or give a patient an antibiotic shot and one will mostly feel better in a day or two days. There are other home remedies that you can be advices to go for like of humidifier, placing a warm towel outside your throat especially if you have swollen or tender lymph nodes. Lastly, you also need to take soothing foods and drink a lot of water to ease the effects of the condition.
